Ingredients:
For the mashed potatoes:
- 3–5 large potatoes
- 3.5 tbsp (50 g) butter
- A bunch of fresh dill (chopped)
- Salt, smoked paprika, black pepper, oregano (to taste)
For the meat filling:
- 1.1 lbs (500 g) ground beef
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
- 2 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 red bell pepper (diced)
- 1 large tomato (diced)
- 2.5 oz (70 g) tomato paste
- A bunch of fresh parsley (chopped)
- Salt, pepper, paprika, oregano (to taste)
Topping:
- 3.5 oz (100 g) mozzarella cheese (shredded)
🔪 Instructions:
1. Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:
- Peel and boil the potatoes until soft.
- Mash them with butter, chopped dill, salt, paprika, pepper, and oregano until smooth and well-seasoned.
- Let them cool slightly, then shape into “nests” on a parchment-lined baking tray. Use a spoon to press down the centers to create a hollow.
2. Cook the Filling:
- In a skillet, sauté chopped onion and garlic until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned.
- Stir in red bell pepper, tomato, tomato paste, and seasonings.
- Simmer until the mixture is thick and aromatic.
- Mix in chopped parsley and set aside.
3. Assemble:
- Fill each mashed potato nest with the beef mixture.
- Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
4. Bake:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Optionally broil for 2–3 minutes for a golden top.
